Switch emulator Yuzu shuts down after settling Nintendo lawsuit for $2.4 million
Yuzu, an open-source Nintendo Switch emulator, has been discontinued after a lawsuit against its creator was settled, with Tropic Haze agreeing to pay Nintendo $2.4 million.

Last week, it was reported that Nintendo had filed a lawsuit against Tropic Haze, alleging that Yuzu had facilitated piracy of its titles "at a colossal scale." The company claimed that The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom had been illegally downloaded over one million times before its official Switch release, with websites specifically stating that it could be played on Yuzu.
Tropic Haze stated that they would respond to the situation within 60 days after having secured an attorney, but both parties appear to have reached an out-of-court settlement. If the court approves the agreement, Tropic Haze will pay Nintendo $2.4 million in damages.
The creator of Yuzu will also be prohibited from "offering to the public, providing, marketing, advertising, promoting, selling, testing, hosting, cloning, distributing, or otherwise trafficking" Yuzu and "other software or devices that circumvent Nintendo's technical protection measures," which includes 3DS emulator Citra. The official download links for both emulators have now been removed.
