Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League's fourth season will be its last, Rocksteady confirms
Rocksteady has announced that the current season of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League will be the game's final season, but that its servers will remain operational.
The details:
The studio has confirmed that its post-launch roadmap will conclude with the release of Season 4 Episode 8 in January 2025. It notes that, while the update will "mark the final battle against Brainiac," the game's servers will not be shut down, and all of its online features, including co-op, will continue to be available for the foreseeable future.
Following numerous complaints from players about the game's always-online structure, Rocksteady has finally added an offline mode with the release of Season 4 Episode 7. Players will have access to the "main story campaign and all post-launch seasonal gameplay content," in the mode and they can use their online profiles to create an offline profile. From that point forward, progression in online and offline mode will be separate.
Suicide Squad received criticism from fans prior to its release, with its first gameplay showcase at PlayStation's State of Play resulting in a delay following the backlash. Despite Rocksteady's efforts to address some of the major complaints, the game received average reviews due to its repetitive gameplay, weak story, and the inclusion of a battle pass. Warner Bros. Discovery also acknowledged that it massively underperformed commercially earlier this year, which led to layoffs at Rocksteady in September.
