According to an established leaker, Capcom is planning a big announcement for the end of this year, and Resident Evil 9 could be announced next year for a 2025 release.

The details:

  • Capcom's next major title will be announced later in 2023, with a planned release window of Fall 2024, according to known leaker Dusk Golem. No information about the game's franchise was provided, but some speculate that it could be a new Monster Hunter title, as series producer Ryozo Tsujimoto has mentioned Tokyo Game Show on multiple occasions and, since the show is in September, it fits into the "later this year" window.
  • Resident Evil 9 is also reportedly in the works, with Dusk Golem claiming that the publisher plans to announce the title in 2024, with a full release in 2025. The leaker also claims to have information on Resident Evil series plans up to 2029, but has not revealed any of them as it's too early in the development of any of the games to provide accurate information and will instead "tease.”
  • In June, Capcom sent out a survey to fans asking which games in the franchise they would like to see remade in the style of the recent 2, 3, and 4 remakes. While the question did not provide options and instead was an open-ended text box, some believe it could lead to the development of a new version of the beloved Code: Veronica after series producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi confirmed that no remake of the game was in the works.
