PlayStation launches new initiative to put one fan in Gran Turismo 7
Sony

Sony has unveiled The Playerbase, a new initiative that will let one PlayStation fan have their likeness scanned and added to Gran Turismo 7, with plans to bring more players into future first-party titles.

The details:

  • The Playerbase is described as a community program that gives devoted PlayStation fans the chance to be digitally scanned and appear inside select PlayStation Studios games, starting with Gran Turismo 7.
  • Players in eligible regions across North America, South America, Europe, Asia, South Africa, and Australia can apply by signing in to the official website with their PlayStation account and answering questions about their gaming history and connection to the brand.
  • Sony will review submissions and narrow them down to a shortlist of finalists, who will then take part in video interviews. Once a winner has been selected, they will be flown out to PlayStation’s visual arts studio in Los Angeles, where they will spend a day being scanned with 3D capture technology and collaborating with designers on a custom “Fantasy Logo” and unique vehicle livery.
  • In Gran Turismo 7, the winner will appear for a limited time as a special in‑game character portrait, while their custom logo and livery will be added permanently to the game’s Showcase menu.
