Sega has unveiled Sega Universe, a new transmedia initiative built to celebrate and expand its older franchises through anniversary projects across “film, music, fashion, and even further forms of entertainment.”

The details:

  • Sega says the project will spotlight classic IP that fans still love under the slogan “No Old, Stay Gold,” with the first wave focused on anniversary-driven content for franchises reaching major milestones in 2026. It plans to “shine light on classic titles that are still loved by fans, distinct from current titles, and aims to transcend the world of games and deliver new ways to enjoy them.”
  • The company has not announced any specific projects yet, but the Sega Universe website does feature a “2026 Selected” section that contains the likes of Fantasy Zone, Outrun, Guardian Heroes, Streets of Rage, NiGHTS Into Dreams, Sakura Wars, SGGG (Segagaga), and more.
  • Sega announced back in 2023 that it would be reviving several of its older IPs, including the likes of Jet Set Radio and Golden Axe, with new games currently in development. So far, Shinobi has seen a new release, and Sega has shared that its Crazy Taxi reboot will be open-world with online elements.
