In a major revelation at Gamescom's Opening Night Live, acclaimed game designer Peter Molyneux unveiled his latest venture, "Masters of Albion," marking a significant return to PC and console gaming.
The details:
- The upcoming title is being developed by 22cans, a team that includes of ex-Fable developers and Mark Healey, the former head of Media Molecule. It’s a fully self-funded project that promises to blend elements from Molyneux's storied career, which includes hits like the Fable series, Godus, Theme Park, and Dungeon Keeper.
- Masters of Albion is described as an "open-world God game" where the player is endowed with ancient, god-like powers and tasked with navigating a world of intrigue. The Steam page teases, “Kings come and go, lords shake you by the hand then stab you in the back, and the people work like dogs and are treated no better.”
- Notably, the game infuses humor and novelty into its gameplay, allowing players to wield unconventional weapons like a baguette. Beyond combat, players will manage villages, design infrastructure, and create heroes to defend against nocturnal creatures.
- In an exclusive IGN interview, Molyneux elaborated on his vision for the game: “If I really want to make one more game, one more epic game, what should that be?” He reflects on his decision to harness aspects of his previous successes, bringing them together into what he believes could be a defining game of his career.
