Starbreeze has announced that its upcoming heist game, Payday 3, will host an open beta beginning September 8 ahead of its full release later this month.
The details:
- The open beta period will begin on September 8 and will last until September 11, allowing everyone to preview a small portion of the game's content before its September 21 release. Even though the full game will be available on PlayStation 5, the beta will only be available on PC and Xbox Series X/S for unknown reasons.
- Starbreeze has revealed that the beta is essentially the same as the game's closed beta, which was held in August and was based on an April 2023 build. The test will include the "No Rest For The Wicked" bank heist, the ability to play as its main cast of Dallas, Hoxton, Chains, and Wolf, all difficulty levels, and level caps of 22 and 8 for Infamy and weapons, respectively.
- Payday 3 was announced in early 2023, with director Almir Listo claiming that it will be the "Evolution of the PAYDAY Franchise." The closed beta was generally well received, with many praising its improvements over its predecessor in the gameplay and visual departments, owing to Overkill Software's decision to use Unreal Engine 4 rather than its own and heavily criticized Diesel Engine.
More gaming news:
- Toshihiro Nagoshi, the producer of 2003's F-Zero GX, has stated that he would be willing to work on a brand new F-Zero game if the opportunity arose. Before leaving to start his own studio under NetEase in 2021, the producer worked at Sega for over 30 years and helped create many notable franchises such as Like a Dragon.
- Respected Skyrim and Fallout 4 modder Elianora revealed that she had been secretly hired to work on the cluttered environments in Starfield, which have been well-received by fans. She pretended to be surprised by many of the game's showcases, including examples of her own work, to avoid revealing that she was working on the title.
