It has been claimed that Gunzilla Games, best known for free-to-play battle royale Off The Grid, has failed to pay its employees for several months, with executives allegedly ignoring the issue.

The details:

  • In a post to LinkedIn, the studio’s former head of talent acquisition accused the company of having an “outstanding debt” towards them after having failed to pay them for several months of work. According to the post, their personal situation has since been resolved, but while at Gunzilla, they had faced "significant salary delays with no clear timeline,” and attempts to reach out to CEO Vlad Korolev and CFO Taras Basarab were simply ignored, highlighting a “systemic” issue.
  • More employees have since echoed similar payment issues, including a gameplay animator, who first joined Gunzilla in March 2025 before leaving a year later. “Gunzilla Games has not paid its employees for many months but still expects them to work,” the former employee claimed. “I have personally not been paid since October 2025. Some have had their pay delayed even longer. I foolishly worked for 3 extra months (October, November, and December) with assurances that delays in payment would be resolved. Upper management promised that these delays were temporary and growing pains tied to being a new company with a new game.
  • Gunzilla, co-founded by District 9 director Neill Blomkamp, opened its doors in 2020 and currently has offices based in London, Frankfurt, and Kyiv. The studio released Off The Grid in early access last year, which is a battle royale described as having an "optional NFT element" with tradeable in-game items.
