Second Dinner, the developer of card battler Marvel Snap, has announced that it has found a new publishing partner after the game was taken offline in the US due to its previous publisher's connection to TikTok owner ByteDance.

The details:

  • Earlier this month, Marvel Snap was unexpectedly taken offline and removed from US online storefronts for more than 24 hours as its publisher, Nuverse, is owned by TikTok creator ByteDance. TikTok was banned in the country due to security concerns, but service has since been restored, with the ban paused while negotiations for the app's sale to a Western company continue.

  • Following the ban, developer Second Dinner took to X, claiming that it had not received any prior warning and vowed to switch publishing partners to avoid similar situations in the future. Players were also provided with in-game compensation as an apology for the downtime.

  • The studio has now issued a statement confirming that with the help of Nuverse, it has "already signed agreements and started the work to bring almost all operational and publishing responsibilities in-house" with support from U.S.-based publisher Skystone Games. Marvel Snap is also now available on US app stores and is listed as being published by Second Dinner.
