Mafia: The Old Country will release in August, 2K accidentally reveals
Publisher 2K has seemingly revealed ahead of its scheduled PAX East panel that Hangar 13’s Mafia: The Old Country will arrive in August via its Steam page.
The details:
In a new Steam post, 2K confirmed that the game will be available on August 8, 2025. Fans managed to capture screenshots of the original post, but 2K has now edited it to remove the date. "Mafia: The Old Country will be available on August 8, 2025," the post stated (via @SynthPotato). "Pre-orders are available now for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam."
Hangar 13 is scheduled to appear at PAX East on May 8 for a livestreamed developer panel, where it is expected to announce the release date officially. According to 2K, the panel will include new details and an "exclusive" behind-the-scenes look at the game's development, followed by a Q&A session with attendees. “On May 8 at 7pm BST and 2pm ET, watch as Hangar 13 developers debut a new Gameplay Trailer and offer a rare behind-the-scenes look at the past, present, and future of this storied franchise, live from their panel discussion via the PAX East Main Stream and the Mafia YouTube channel,” the publisher wrote.
Mafia: The Old Country, announced at Gamescom last year, is the franchise's first new entry since 2016's Mafia III. Not much is known about the game yet, but it has been confirmed that it is set in 1900s Sicily and follows the story of a man named Enzo, with Hangar 13 stating that it will feature Sicilian voice acting to fit the setting.
