Liquipedia powers up with OVHcloud partnership

Liquipedia, the biggest wiki in esports, has partnered with French cloud server specialist OVHcloud.

The basics: Liquipedia has high demands for its chosen server provider.

  • OVHcloud will provide cloud solutions and support for Team Liquid's wiki for an unspecified period, freeing up staff and volunteers to develop new features and cover more games.
  • Specifically, Liquipedia's database, testing, and development will be supported by the French company. Team Liquid uses OVHcloud's services across other properties, too.
  • It's stated that the wiki amasses over 700M unique page views on a global basis each year across prominent titles such as Counter-Strike, League of Legends, Dota 2, and VALORANT.

Why it matters: Support for Liquipedia goes a long way and is important to the entire industry.

  • Comprehensively covering many of the biggest competitive gaming titles in the world, Liquipedia's data is used by fans, journalists, analysts, commentators, and other industry figures. The service is free.
  • The wiki does indeed have dedicated staff but relies on volunteer editors to keep it up to date across multiple titles on a daily basis through match results, tournament hubs, player and team profiles, and more.
  • Erik Saler, Head of Liquipedia, said: "This allows our team to invest more time and resources in talent, development, and growth – rather than being stuck with unnecessary vendor costs and hassle."
