It has been confirmed that the upcoming Like a Dragon: Gaiden will receive an English dub in a post-launch update, which means that players will have to settle for Japanese voice acting with English subtitles until the update is released in the near future.
The details:
- Yong Yea, the new English voice actor for protagonist Kazuma Kiryu, has informed fans that the game's English dub will not be available on November 8. The voice pack will be available as a free update after the game's release, though no specific date has been given.
- The Like a Dragon (formerly Yakuza) series has few games with English dubs, with only the first title offering a full English dub option until the release of Yakuza: Like a Dragon in 2020, with spin-offs Judgment and Lost Judgment also featuring an English cast. As Yong Yea also confirmed, both dubs will be available at the launch of Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth.
- Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name follows the series' original protagonist, Kiryu, as he conceals himself as a secret agent. The game serves as a side story to Yakuza: Like a Dragon, which introduced a new protagonist, Ichiban Kasuga, with both characters appearing in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth. According to Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, Gaiden will also include a demo for Infinite Wealth.
More gaming news:
- Microsoft has completed its acquisition of Activision Blizzard, bringing the industry's largest deal to a close. This means that classic franchises like Crash Bandicoot, Warcraft, and others could become exclusive to Xbox, while Call of Duty will remain on Nintendo and PlayStation for at least another decade.
- Arma 3 is being used to create clips that are falsely labeled as real-life combat footage from the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The videos show several helicopters and jets being shot down in the game, with social media users claiming Hamas is responsible.
