The Pokémon Company and Lego have officially unveiled the first wave of Lego Pokémon sets, giving fans their first look at the collection, which is set to release later this year.

The details:

  • The range is set to launch to coincide with Pokémon’s 30th anniversary, with all sets scheduled for release on February 27, with pre-orders opening from January 12.
  • The largest set out of range is a 6,838-piece build featuring the original trio of Pokémon starters, Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise. The model measures over 50 cm high, 54 cm wide, and 36 cm deep and will retail for $649.99, with the exclusive Lego Pokémon Kanto Region Badge Collection available to those who pre-order the set.
  • The second set, featuring Pikachu and a Poké Ball, contains 2,050 bricks, stands around 35 cm tall and 39 cm deep, and will cost $199.99. Rounding out the collection is the smaller 567-piece Eevee figure, which retails for $59.99.
  • Pokémon joins the rapidly growing list of video game franchises that have officially collaborated in recent years, which includes several major Nintendo IPs such as Super Mario, The Legend of Zelda, and Animal Crossing. Despite the high price tags, the sets have been received well by fans, with a mix of simple sets for all ages, and complex builds aimed at adults.
