Despite an ongoing legal battle with Nintendo over alleged patent infringement, Pocketpair has reached an agreement with South Korean publisher Krafton to bring Palworld to mobile devices.

The details:

  • Krafton, best known as the owner of PUBG, announced the deal in a press release on Wednesday, with PUBG Studios developing the mobile title. It's unclear whether the game will be a direct port of Palworld's console and PC versions or a completely new experience, but Krafton states that it will "faithfully reinterpret and implement the main fun elements of the original for the mobile environment."

  • Palworld was first released on PC and Xbox earlier this year, with a PS5 port following last month. Pocketpair also announced in July that it had formed Palworld Entertainment, a joint venture between Sony Music Entertainment Japan and Aniplex, to "expand and develop new businesses" based on the IP.

  • Following the title's massively successful launch, many accused Pocketpair of copying various monster designs from Pokemon, prompting Nintendo to confirm it was "investigating" the game. After months of silence, Nintendo announced last month that it had filed a lawsuit against Pocketpair for patent infringement, causing the launch of the PS5 version to be postponed in Japan.
