GTA 6's trailer passes 100 million views, breaks record for the most-viewed non-music video in 24 hours
After Rockstar released the reveal trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI on Monday, it quickly became one of the biggest reveals in YouTube history, breaking a record for the most views in 24 hours for a non-music video.
The details:
At the time of writing, the trailer currently sits at 103 million views, surpassing the 12 year old trailer of its predecessor, which had recently hit 100 million after gaining five million views in the run-up to GTA VI's recent reveal. It also became the most-viewed non-music video in 24 hours after beating out MrBeast, although it fell short of taking the overall video record from BTS.
The trailer not only outperformed the GTA V reveal in terms of views, but it also surpassed the official uploads of trailers for Frozen 2, Suicide Squad, and Joker. It still trails a number of trailers from movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, such as Avengers: Infinity War, Star Wars, and the Fast and Furious franchise.
Rockstar had originally planned to release the trailer on Tuesday, but a low-quality leak of the reveal appeared on X, prompting the studio to post it to its official YouTube channel more than half a day earlier. Employees who worked on the project expressed their disappointment on social media, but it appears that the overwhelming positive response softened the blow.
