FromSoftware to increase its average salaries by almost 12%
Elden Ring developer FromSoftware has announced that it will raise base salaries for all employees and new graduates.
The details:
In a new press release, the studio confirmed that the change would come into effect in April 2025, with an 11.8% increase in its average base salaries. New graduates will also receive a higher starting monthly salary of 300,000 JPY, up from the previous 260,000 JPY.
According to FromSoft, the decision to raise salaries is part of the company's policy to provide "stable income and a rewarding work environment where our employees can apply themselves to development,” so that it can “continue to develop games with the hope of inspiring players, and creating something of value.”
As reported by GamesIndustry.biz, FromSoft offered starting salaries as low as 220,000 JPY per month in 2022, barely covering the cost of the average one-bedroom apartment in Tokyo, where the developer is based. With Japan's current weak economy, it's not surprising that the studio has increased employee pay, as Bandai Namco and Sega's Atlus have announced similar increases in recent years.
