Zynga has announced that Star Wars: Hunters, its free-to-play PvP game for mobile and Nintendo Switch, will be shut down later this year.

The details:

  • The title, which was released after several delays on June 4, 2024 to mixed reviews, will receive its final content update on April 15, before its servers close on October 1. Zynga did not reveal the exact reasoning for the "disappointing" decision, but it is likely due to low interest in the game. “We understand this news may be disappointing and want to assure you that this decision was not made lightly,” the publisher wrote. “Your passion and dedication to the game and its community have meant the world to us, and we are committed to providing visibility and updates throughout the transition process.”

  • With the final update, all players will have immediate free access to its final character, Tuya, as well as other additional content and a Ranked Mode leaderboard. The game's next season, Season 5, will also be extended by three weeks, beginning March 25.

  • On April 15, in-game purchases will be disabled, but players will not be refunded for any purchases made since launch, such as season passes and "Crystals," the game's premium currency. "The intention of the 30-day notice we are giving between March 17th and turning off in-app purchases on April 15th is to give players enough time to max out the Arena Pass before the end of the Season," Zynga wrote on its FAQ page.
