Sports Interactive has confirmed that Football Manager 26 will see women’s football come to the series for the first time in its history as it forms a partnership with the Barclays Women's Super League.

The details:

  • As announced in a new YouTube video covering the new addition, FM26 will be the first game in the long-running series to feature women. Sports Interactive has confirmed this comes alongside a new partnership that will see the first and second divisions of women’s English football be officially included. "We're thrilled to welcome the Barclays Women's Super League and Women's Super League 2 to the Football Manager family for FM26," studio director Miles Jacobson said. “Managers and figures within the league have been integral to the introduction of Women's Football to our games, so it was only right that the leagues themselves were authentically represented too. I can't wait to read and hear the stories from our players as they get to test their managerial skills in the WSL and WSL2 for the first time."
  • A total of 24 teams from the WSL will make an appearance, complete with official club badges, kits, and player photos. This is on top of another 12 leagues spread across 11 nations, including Germany’s Frauen-Bundesliga and Sweden’s Damallsvenskan.
  • Originally announced for the now-cancelled FM25, FM26 will also see the first instance of the men’s English Premier League being fully licensed in the series. In past titles, the league was referred to as the “Premier Division” and consisted of teams that shared names with their real-world counterparts but had generic badges and kits following their color schemes. "We are very grateful to the Premier League and their other partners in our space for enabling us to be an officially licensed product of the world's most commercially successful football league,” Jacobson said following the announcement.
