Final Fantasy: Brave Exvius's global release is shutting down, Square Enix announces
Square Enix has announced that the global service for the free-to-play mobile game Final Fantasy: Brave Exvius will be discontinued in October, but the original Japanese release will continue to be playable.
The details:
Square Enix announced the closure on the game's official Facebook page, confirming that players will no longer be able to purchase the in-game currency Lapis or bundles starting August 29. After more than eight years of service, the title will be completely shut down on October 30, 2024, with all player accounts deleted.
The developer did not provide any information about the decision to end the global version of the game but stated that it concluded that it would be "difficult to continue maintaining the app experience." However, the original Japanese version of the Brave Exvius will remain in service.
Square has discontinued several Final Fantasy mobile releases in recent years, beginning with the short-lived battle royale Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier in January 2023 and followed by Dissidia Final Fantasy Opera Omnia in February 2024. The company has not abandoned mobile platforms entirely, as it released Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis last year, and a port of FFXIV is also reportedly in the works in collaboration with Tencent.
