Embracer Group has reportedly let go of around 50 employees at Chorus developer Fishlabs as a result of its restructuring program.

The details:

  • As reported by VGC, it has been claimed that Embracer CEO Lars Wingefors informed staff that approximately 50 employees would be laid off, with an executive stating that "lack of approval and financing" for an ongoing project left the studio with "no other choice."

  • According to LinkedIn, the studio once housed around 120 employees, with some of those affected, including designers and artists, sharing news of the job losses. Fishlabs is best known for its Galaxy On Fire franchise and 2021's Chorus, but it has most recently worked on Valheim and Saints Row ports.

  • Since the announcement of Embracerโ€™s restructuring program in June, over 900 employees have been laid off across its subsidiaries, with numerous projects canceled and studios shuttered, including Volition. During a recent meeting, the company confirmed that more layoffs and closures would occur in the near future.
