Embracer Group is splitting into two companies and says that it will “more actively” pursue external partnerships for classic IPs including Deus Ex, TimeSplitters, Saints Row, Legacy of Kain, Red Faction, Thief and more.

The details:

  • Embracer has announced that it will spin off a new, separately listed company called Fellowship Entertainment, which will oversee franchises such as Tomb Raider, The Lord of the Rings, Metro, Dead Island, Darksiders and Kingdom Come: Deliverance, with a dedicated licensing arm to seek out outside partners.
  • In a letter to investors, CEO Lars Wingefors said Fellowship will “more actively be exploring external partnerships” for well‑known IP such as Saints Row, Legacy of Kain, Deus Ex, Red Faction, The Mask, Thief, and TimeSplitters, which could mean new games or other media made by studios outside of Embracer.
  • Moving forward, the core Embracer company will concentrate on more "entrepreneurially managed" labels such as Plaion, Saber, Limited Run, and others, while Fellowship will focus on the games themselves.
