Doom: The Dark Ages is id Software’s biggest launch to date, Bethesda says

Bethesda has announced that id Software's recently released Doom: The Dark Ages is the company's "biggest launch" in its 34-year history.
The details:
In a post to X, the publisher announced that it has reached over three million players since its May 15 launch. This marks the largest launch ever for an id Software game, and Bethesda notes that it achieved the impressive milestone seven times faster than its predecessor, 2020's Doom Eternal.
According to SteamDB, Doom: The Dark Ages peaked at 31,470 concurrent players, which is significantly lower than Eternal's peak of 104,891 during its launch window. However, it's worth noting that the game is available through Xbox's PC Game Pass subscription, and according to analyst firm Ampere (via Christopher Dring), over two million players are expected to be using an Xbox platform.
Doom: The Dark Ages was announced in June and takes place before the events of the 2016 Doom reboot, in a dark fantasy setting. The game depicts the Doom Slayer performing his usual task of battling the forces of Hell with plenty of gore and violent action. However, due to its medieval-inspired setting, it takes a much more grounded approach, with weapons such as a shield equipped with a chainsaw blade.
