Quantic Dream has announced Spellcasters Chronicles, a new free-to-play multiplayer title, while reaffirming that Star Wars Eclipse is still in development.

The details:

  • Quantic Dream founder David Cage revealed in a blog post that the studio is now working on multiple projects simultaneously, doubling its headcount since 2018 across Paris and Montreal studios. The expansion has allowed it to create Spellcasters Chronicles, the studio's first competitive free-to-play multiplayer game.
  • The game features 3v3 team-based battles with mages in fantasy arenas, with players able to use over 50 spells from seven schools of magic, with matches lasting approximately 25 minutes. Spellcasters Chronicles will enter closed beta on Steam before the end of 2025, with registration now available on the official website.
  • Cage has also confirmed that the development of Star Wars Eclipse is still ongoing, adding that the team is "eager to share more with you in the future." The High Republic-era game was originally announced in 2021 but has faced speculation about development troubles, with little being revealed since.
  • Quantic Dream is best known as a studio focused on some of the biggest narrative games in recent years, including Detroit: Become Human, Heavy Rain, and Beyond Two Souls. The studio was notably acquired by Chinese gaming giant NetEase in 2022, becoming its first-ever European studio.
