In more significant news from Gamescom 2024, 2K and Firaxis Games revealed Sid Meier's Civilization VII will launch globally on February 11, 2025, on PC, PS4/5, Xbox One/Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch.
The details:
- This new entry in the legendary series will allow players to select a different leader for each of three distinct AgesโAntiquity, Exploration, and Modern. This feature lets players customize their civilization by mixing various historical cultures and adapting strategies through changing eras.
- Perhaps most notably of all, though, English actor Gwendoline Christie, famous for her role in Game of Thrones as Brienne of Tarth, will serve as the narrator, following in the footsteps of predecessors Leonard Nimoy, fellow GoT alumni Sean Bean, and William Morgan Sheppard. Christie's inclusion marks the first time a woman will narrate the mainline series.
- Attendees of Gamescom 2024, which is running in Cologne, Germany from August 21 to 25, can experience Civilization VII firsthand at the official booth in Hall 6.
