Gearbox has revealed that the wait for the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Borderlands 4 will not be long, as it will arrive less than a month following the game’s launch on other platforms.

The details:

  • In a video posted to X, Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford confirmed that Borderlands 4 will be coming to the Switch 2 on October 3, just weeks after its PC, Xbox, and PS5 launch on September 12, 2025. “It’s not next year, it’s not even the holiday, it’s so much before Christmas, it’s so much before Thanksgiving,” Pitchford said in the video.
  • Originally set to arrive on September 25, Gearbox shared last month that it would be bringing the game’s release date forward. While the reason for the decision was not specified, it is believed to have been related to the delay of Grand Theft Auto VI, with many publishers delaying announcing release dates for their titles until Rockstar confirmed when the game would be available later this year.
  • Borderlands 4 has been surrounded by controversy since its reveal earlier this year, but not for its own content. After a fan asked Pitchford to not allow the game to launch with an $80 price tag, the CEO defended the idea by stating that a “real fan” would find a way to pay the cost. This led to backlash that was ultimately unnecessary after it was revealed that it would instead be priced at $70, albeit with expensive special editions that don’t even include the game.
