Todd Howard of Bethesda reportedly shared Fallout 5 information with the writers of the series TV adaptation to avoid using the same ideas in both.

The details:

  • Speaking with Den of Geeks, Howard revealed that he needed to inform the team behind the upcoming Fallout TV show to avoid certain story elements that are set to appear in Fallout 5. "Well, there were some things where I said, 'Don't do this because we are going to do that in Fallout 5,'" Howard said.

  • The show’s writing including elements extremely similar to that of the games is unsurprising as showrunner Jonathan Nolan previously stated that it was β€œjust a non-interactive version of it,” although he clarified that it was not intended to replace Fallout 5 in any way.

  • Fallout will take place in the same universe as the games but with a completely new story set in 2296 in the California wastelands, as seen in the original Interplay titles. It will tell the story of Lucy, a vault dweller who is sent to the surface, with Nuka Cola, ghouls, and power armor making appearances. Fans have also spotted what may be NCR troopers.
