Bethesda’s Todd Howard has confirmed that the developer plans to release annual story expansions for its latest RPG, Starfield, with another already in the works to follow Shattered Space.

The details:

  • Speaking in an interview with YouTuber MrMattyPlays, Howard shared details of Bethesda’s plans for Starfield's future expansions. “I would say more or less, yeah,” he said when asked if the studio aims to release DLC annually. “I would say we want to, more or less, yeah. How long that continues? Hopefully a very long time, but we’re planning for the one after this, so there will be another one.”

  • Howard explained that the goal of the expansions is not to "answer every question" in the game. Instead, he stated that Bethesda “sort of look at it and say, 'Hey, what's a good angle? What do we want to add to the game as far as an experience or a tone or those kinds of things,’ if that makes sense."

  • Starfield’s first expansion, Shattered Space, was announced last year, with a trailer released earlier this month. The DLC will feature a new planet, items, and storyline, with Howard stating that the studio was aiming to create an experience similar to that of Fallout 4’s Far Harbor.
