Since the launch of Battlefield 6 last week, players have complained about bullets failing to register correctly. DICE has now confirmed that there is an issue with the game's bloom mechanic and that a fix is planned for a future update.

The details:

  • Battlefield 6 players have reported widespread issues with bullets failing to register hits, even when aiming directly at enemies. The so-called โ€œghost bulletโ€ bug has led to frustration across the community, with clips circulating online showing clear hit markers but no confirmed damage.
  • Developer DICE has now acknowledged the problem, confirming that the bug is under investigation. Principal game designer Florian Le Bihan said on X the team has identified two separate bugs affecting bullet dispersion and bloom, both of which are causing weapons to behave unpredictably, and that a fix is now in the works. Le Bihan also stated that this is a different bug from the bloom-related issue discovered in the beta, which has since been fixed.
  • In Battlefield 6, automatic weapons are designed to lose accuracy during sustained fire not just due to recoil, but also bloom. Bloom is a mechanic that spreads out bullets over time, encouraging shorter, more controlled bursts. However, the current bug prevents bloom from resetting properly between bursts, meaning shots can continue to stray even after players stop firing.
