Following the news that Bam Margera, best known for his roles in Jackass and Viva La Bam, would not be returning in Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3+4, Hawk reportedly forced Activision to include the troubled skater in the remake.

The details:

  • After the reveal of Pro Skater 3+4's roster of new and returning skaters, fans noticed that Margera was the only original cast member who was absent from the list. While it was unclear why the skater was not involved in the remake, many believe it was due to Margera's ongoing legal issues, which include a history of substance abuse, as well as being fired and served with a restraining order in 2021 for threatening the family of Jackass Forever director Jeff Tremaine.

  • However, it has been claimed that Margera has returned to the lineup for 3+4 at Hawk's request. According to veteran skating cinematographer Roger Bagley on The Live Club podcast (via VGC), despite the game being "already done," Hawk contacted Activision and informed the developer that Margera must be included. "Tony called up Activision and was like 'hey, we're putting Bam in the thing', and they were like 'hey, we can't'," Bagley said "He goes 'no, you're gonna do it', and basically made them fly Bam back out there to get body-scanned and everything else, and get him back in the game."

  • Margera has appeared in several Tony Hawk games, including Underground 2 where he appeared as the leader of Team Bam alongside a number of his Jackass co-stars. Outside of the gaming world, Hawk and Margera have a long-standing friendship, with the two sharing a video of themselves skating together shortly after the announcement of 3+4, which will be released on July 11.
