The first cinematic trailer for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III's upcoming Zombies mode has been released, giving fans a look at Treyarch's new take on its classic mode.
The details:
- Activision has released a cinematic reveal trailer for the latest iteration of the fan-favorite Zombies mode, which shows what caused the infected outbreak. In the video, we see a squad of soldiers led by series antagonist Viktor Zakhaev raid a hotel and discover two vials filled with an unknown substance. The squad then engages in a shootout with the police, leaving Zakhaev's forces outnumbered and him throwing one of the vials at the police officers, turning them into zombies.
- An accompanying blog post expands on the mode's lore, revealing that players will enter the Exclusion Zone as part of Operation Deadbolt alongside Soap and Black Ops: Cold War operative Ravenov several weeks after the event.
- The mode's open-world design is a first for the series, allowing players to team up with other squads to complete missions in a "extraction survival experience." In many ways, it appears to be similar to Modern Warfare II's DMZ mode, but without the PvP element and instead focusing on the traditional PvE style the mode has stuck with since its first appearance in World at War.
More gaming news:
- Spider-Man 2 will include a 40 FPS mode in addition to 30 and 60 FPS options. The alternate mode is intended to provide a smoother experience for those using higher refresh rate displays while maintaining the quality provided by the 30 FPS mode.
- Documents detailing Bethesda's release plans through the fiscal year 2024 have been leaked online. The files, dated July 2024, show that the company intended to release remasters of Fallout 3 and Oblivion, as well as a new Dishonored.
