Xbox begins rollout of its AI tech support chatbot, Support Virtual Agent
Xbox has started rolling out its new AI-powered tech support chatbot, "Support Virtual Agent," to members of its Insiders program in the US, allowing players to get quick fixes for common problems.
The details:
As announced in a new blog post from senior product manager lead Megha Dudani, the Support Virtual Agent is now only available to Xbox Insiders in the United States. The AI chatbot will be released to the public at an unspecified later date, with Insiders able to provide feedback as with previous pre-release features.
The Support Virtual Agent utilizes Xbox's own support website and is intended to "help Xbox players more efficiently solve their support-related gaming issues." Players can ask questions about an Xbox-related issue via voice or text chat, and the relevant solution will be quickly pulled from the support site, eliminating the need to search the site for minor issues. For any more complex problems, players will still be able to contact its human-run support team via the website.
The chatbot is just one of Microsoft's many advancements in AI, which account for a significant portion of its revenue. Last year, it announced a multi-year partnership with Inworld to develop AI-powered narrative tools for Xbox titles, following the company's creation of a Grand Theft Auto V mod that allowed players to chat with NPCs using AI.
