For the second time in a month, War Thunder fans have leaked a restricted flight manual for a stealth attack aircraft onto the game's official forums.
The details:
- As reported by Niche Gamer, on September 12, a member of the War Thunder forum shared pages from the flight manual for the Lockheed F-117 Nighthawk aircraft in a thread. The restricted document contained information such as engine specifications, firing angles, sensor locations, and other details that could be viewed publicly until the entire thread was removed by a forum moderator, after which the user responsible was banned.
- Some people pointed out after the leak that the manual was not classified, but rather restricted. Whereas classified documents are meant to be kept completely secret, restricted documents like the manual can be viewed; however, they are typically illegal to export, with previously shared Eurofighter Typhoon documents only meant to be viewed within NATO countries.
- This is not the first time that classified or restricted documents have made their way onto the forum, with Gaijin Entertainment's head of PR Konstantin Govorun telling Task and Purpose that it was "probably the 12th time" that sensitive military information was shared by War Thunder players. According to Wikipedia, this is the tenth time a leak has occurred on the forum since July 2021, with six of those incidents occurring in 2023.
More gaming news:
- Ascendant Studios, the developer of Immortals of Aveum, has announced that it will lay off approximately 45% of its workforce following the game's poor sales after its release last month. Severance packages and job placement assistance are being provided to those affected.
- Assassin's Creed Mirage, Resident Evil 4 Remake, and Village are all coming to the iPhone 15 Pro in the coming months. During the recent Apple Keynote revealing the new line of smartphones, it was claimed that the power of the A17 chip inside the devices is capable of running "console versions" of the titles, marking the first time a console experience of Assassin's Creed is available on mobile.
