Tekken 8 has been officially confirmed for a January 24, 2023 release date, and pre-orders are now available.
The details:
- Bandai Namco revealed the game's release date during a new trailer shown at Gamescom Opening Night Live, as well as the fact that pre-orders for the standard, deluxe, and ultimate editions were now open. Pre-orders will include a Paul Phoenix avatar costume, as well as training dummies and "iron man" Mokujin and Tetsujin for PlayStation players.
- The trailer also showed off its new Arcade Quest single-player mode, which features customizable Mii-like characters competing in Tekken tournaments. According to producer Michael Murray, the mode's gameplay will include some "AI-infused learning aspects," which may bring something new to the table.
- So far, Tekken 8 is shaping up to be a solid fighting title, with crossplay and rollback netcode confirmed in April and game director Katsuhiro Harada claiming that, unlike Tekken 7, it will not include any form of Denuvo anti-piracy DRM, which Street Fighter 6 does.
More gaming news:
- Like a Dragon: Gaiden will include a demo for the upcoming mainline title, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, and will feature scenes not found in the final release. Kazuma Kiryu, the protagonist of Gaiden, will return as one of Infinite Wealth's two main characters.
- Many traditional systems will return in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III's multiplayer, with dead silence becoming a permanent perk once more, as well as the reintroduction of minimap red dots when firing. The game's map pool will include all 16 base maps from the original Modern Warfare 2.
