It has been revealed that Super Mario RPGβs upcoming remake has been developed by Japanese studio ArtePiazza, best known for its work on multiple entries in the Dragon Quest franchise.
The details:
As spotted by X user @naetoru60, those who have preordered the title via the Nintendo eShop can find ArtePiazza alongside Nintendo in the copyright notice for the game. The studio is best known for its work on Square Enix's Dragon Quest series, dating back to 1996's DQ3, where it worked on CG design and later remakes, as well as the 2D version of DQ11.
Several developers from the original 1996 have been credited with working on the game, including co-director Yoshihiko Maekawa, designer Taro Kudo, and composer Yoko Shimomura, who confirmed her involvement in the title back in June. However, the game's original director, Chihiro Fujioka, announced that he would not be working on the project, with Ayako Moriwaki serving as its director.
