OG Esports

OG is a leading international esports organization incorporated in Denmark in 2018. OG currently operates esports teams within the video games Dota 2 and CS2, with both teams being a part of the absolute elite. OG’s daily management operates primarily from its offices in Denmark; however OG’s employees work from different locations across the world. The group currently consists of three companies: OG Esports A/S, OG CS ApS and OG Esports Portugal S.A.

Job Title

Head of Esports

Job Overview

The Head of Esports will be part of the leadership team and act as the esports department head for OG Esports. The head of Esports will oversee the competitive aspects of the department, supporting the team project leads to put forth premier teams to participate and win the biggest events in the world of esports. The Head of Esports will ensure there are clear strategies and development plans for players, staff and other titles that are under the esports department, alongside ensuring we constantly drive the value of our products and seek expansion opportunities for the organization. The role is highly collaborative, and should be comfortable working across the whole organization.

Key Responsibilities

Gaming performance

  • Work with the general managers and head coaches in each team to create competitive rosters in each gaming title.

  • Provide guidance to the staff for optimal execution of day to day operations and ensure best practices are being followed.

  • Assess and debrief performance before and after key esports events to understand where to optimize and improve.

  • Understanding of various esports titles and maintain current knowledge of those.

Operations

  • Ensure each competitive roster has the appropriate resources to compete at the highest level including visas, travel accommodations, scheduling, bootcamps and other logistic operations as expected from a top tier organization.

  • Manage the overall department budget along with finance to ensure that all policies (AR/AP, salary and cash prize distribution etc.) are followed.

  • Travel as needed to events and board meetings.

  • Work with legal and HR to maintain proper on- and offboarding procedures, as well as negotiating contracts with various players, staff and third parties.

Collaboration and communication

  • As part of the leadership team, work cross-departmentally with the branding-, Social Media- and Content department to ensure proper brand messaging, PR and other external media standards.

  • Be the point of contact with publishers and tournament organizer executives such as BLAST, ESL, PGL and Valve.

  • Provide constructive feedback to the leadership team.

Commercialization

  • Work with the Partnerships department on proposing and executing deliverables to fulfill agreements with sponsors.

  • Assist in developing products and building retail strategies.

Qualifications

  • Fluent in speaking, reading and writing English.

  • 5+ years esports experience.

  • 3+ years leading teams.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed for events.

  • An established esports network and contact list.

  • Based in Europe, working remotely, from our offices in Copenhagen, or near to our team facility in Lisbon.

  • Structured and well-organized individual with a passion for esports.

  • Adaptable and solution-oriented thinker who can quickly pivot plans when circumstances dictate.

  • Comfortable working with large quantities of qualitative and quantitative data.

  • Experience in planning and delivering complex, cross-functional projects.

  • Comfortable working in dynamic, cross-functional environments.
