Skull Island: Rise Of Kong becomes gaming's latest laughing stock

The first King Kong game in 18 years has gone viral on social media due to its hilariously bad visuals and bug-ridden gameplay, prompting some to label it a "scam."

Clips from IguanaBee's latest release have begun to circulate on X, the most notable of which comes from @RickDaSquirrel and depicts a cutscene from the game in which the iconic King Kong appears to be having a flashback, causing it to crush a monster in a fit of rage. The game's PS2-era visuals, janky animation, and use of a low-resolution image for the flashback were immediately noticed by fans.
The game has been labeled a "scam" by RickDaSquirrel, while others have begun to mock it, referring to it as "absolute cinema," with @wayneradiotv comparing the title to The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, which launched earlier this year and quickly became the worst-rated game of the year.
Aside from the bizarre visuals, some fans remained optimistic about the title's gameplay, with @Atomic_Erupter stating that they're "just hoping the game is fun to play." Unfortunately, it seems the gameplay isn't much better, with another clip showing the gigantic gorilla-like monster fighting off some crabs, displaying the low frame rate and shallow combat system.
It's unclear what circumstances led to the game launching in such a disastrous state, but its publisher, GameMill Entertainment, is known for releasing games with mediocre reviews at best that are typically regarded as licensed shovelware.
