Sega launches new “Sega Account” profiles providing in-game bonuses, news, and more

Sega has launched Sega Account, a new type of online profile that provides fans with "a host of benefits," which many believe is tied to the company's upcoming "Super Game" project.
The details:
Sega states that Sega Account holders will have access to "exclusive bonuses" for Sega and Atlus games, as well as the ability to link their accounts to platforms such as Steam, Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo, and, at a later date, Epic Games. Users will also receive information about upcoming Sega games, content, sales, and events.
Players who register an account before March 7 will receive an exclusive Kazuma Kiryu outfit for the upcoming Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, allowing Goro Majima to dress as the franchise's original protagonist.
Currently, the only game that can be linked directly to an account is the Japanese version of Phantasy Star Online 2 New Genesis Ver.2. Sega claims that players will eventually be able to "look at your records for the games you've played."
The seemingly random decision to launch a new account system has led fans to believe that it may be related to Sega's "Super Game," which was first revealed in 2022. The project was described as a "large-scale global title" that would be released by the end of the fiscal year 2026 and focus on user-generated content. With the company’s reboots of classic IPs on the way, the titles may use the Sega Account service to connect to the Super Game in some form.
More gaming news:
NCSoft has reportedly canceled its upcoming MMORPG based on the Horizon IP. The game was said to be in development as far back as 2022, but details were scarce.
