Rock Band developer Harmonix's Fortnite Festival mode will feature instrument controller support
Epic Games has confirmed that Fortnite Festival, a new Rock Band-like mode developed by Harmonix, will be updated in the future to include support for the iconic guitar and drum controllers.
The details:
Harmonix's Fortnite Festival is now available, bringing the rhythm game experience to Epic's shooter for free, allowing players to tap along to a variety of tracks with varying difficulty and instrument options, similar to Rock Band.
Since the mode is so similar to the gameplay of the dormant franchise, fans wondered if they would be able to use their instrument controllers like a guitar or drum set instead of a keyboard or standard controller. Although it is not available at launch, Epic stated in a FAQ that it is a "priority for the team and currently under development," with more information to come next year.
Speaking with IGN, Harmonix studio director Alex Rigopulos was asked about controller support and reaffirmed that, while no details could be revealed just yet, the developer is "actively working on" it. The lack of details suggests that we may be in for something more than just controller support, but the idea of playing Mr Brightside as Peter Griffin with a plastic guitar is enough for us.
