Prison Architect 2 has been delayed indefinitely to "improve performance and content"
Paradox Interactive has announced that Prison Architect will be delayed indefinitely as its development team seeks to "improve both the game's performance and its content."
The details:
The publisher announced the delay in a post on its website, confirming that the game would miss its September 3 release date and that it is unable to "commit to a new release date as we need to re-assess the scope of the work that is needed to be done before the game is release-ready."
Following internal reviews and beta tests, it was determined that the developer needed to devote more time to addressing the issues. This comes just months after Paradox and Double Eleven, the game's original developer, parted ways after failing to reach a commercial agreement that "worked for both parties." Since then, the title has been developed by Kokku, a studio that has served as a co-developer on a number of AAA titles.
Prison Architect 2 has been delayed three times this year alone, following its announcement in January. The game was originally scheduled to launch in March, but was pushed back to May due to bugs and other technical problems, and then to September due to similar performance issues.
Paradox has had a difficult few years with its releases, with The Lamplighter's League selling poorly, followed by the widely panned release of Cities: Skylines 2, which resulted in DLC refunds and console ports being delayed indefinitely.
