Pokémon Presents event announced for next week
It has been announced that a Pokémon Presents will be broadcast next week to share "exciting news" regarding the franchise’s future projects.
The details:
The Pokémon Company confirmed in an X post that the show will take place on its official YouTube channel on Tuesday, February 27 at 6am PT / 9am ET / 2pm GMT. The post does not reveal a lot about what we'll see, except that it would include "exciting Pokémon news in celebration of #PokemonDay 2024."
It's possible that we'll hear more about the next mainline Pokémon games after 2022's Scarlet and Violet and its expansions, which were released the following year. It seems a bit too early for a new generation, so the company may have chosen to develop another remake, as it did with Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, or even create a new spin-off.
If a new mainline game is announced, it raises the question of which platform it will be released on. With the Nintendo Switch nearing the end of its lifecycle, it has been rumored that its successor will arrive in early 2025, providing an ideal opportunity for a new Pokémon game to be released alongside the system.
