Palworld announces Terraria crossover and its next major content update
Pocketpair has announced that, despite an ongoing legal battle with Nintendo and The Pokémon Company, Palworld has secured a collaboration with hit sandbox game Terraria and will release its next major update next month.
The details:
The crossover was announced by the official Palworld account on X, along with new artwork featuring characters from both games interacting with one another. It's unclear what the collaboration will entail, but some Terraria-inspired items, such as weapons, could show up in Palworld, and some of the Terraria's unique mobs might appear as Pals.
Pocketpair has also confirmed that Palworld's next content update will be released next month, and it will include an entirely new island that is six times the size of Sakurajima, making it the largest in the game. The island is also described as the "harshest" and "most mysterious" so far, implying that it will be geared toward more experienced players.
Despite the update and collaborations, Pocketpair is still involved in a lawsuit with Nintendo and The Pokémon Company, who claim that Palworld infringes on several of their patents. The patents depict a number of core gameplay mechanics found in both Pokémon and Palworld, such as capturing monsters with a spherical object in battle, and if Pocketpair is found liable, it may be forced to remove Palworld from sale.
