Insomniac may create a Venom spin-off if Spider-Man fans are interested
When asked about a potential Venom spin-off, Insomniac Games, the developer of Marvel's Spider-Man 2, stated that it will "listen to the fans" when it comes to new projects.
The details:
Speaking with Insider, Spider-Man 2’s senior narrative director Jon Paquette was asked about the possible creation of a spin-off based around the alien symbiote Venom. Paquette did not dismiss the possibility of a spin-off, instead stating that Insomniac is still "focused on Spider-Man 2," and that it will "wait to see how the fans react" to the game's story and characters before moving on to other Spider-Man-related projects.
Spider-Man 2 was released today, with Candyman actor Tony Todd playing Venom, with Paquette stating that Todd's performance fits the "exact vibe" that the studio was going for. The director also stated that he hopes the game provides "one of the best Venom stories you've ever experienced," which appears to be the case based on recent reviews.
If Insomniac decides to create a spin-off similar to 2020's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, we can expect to wait a while, as the studio will not only support Spider-Man 2 with additional updates and possibly DLC, but is also working on a new Wolverine title due to its partnership with Marvel.
