Ahead of the weekend, Arrowhead’s Helldivers 2 has received an update upping the concurrent player limit to 700,000, but the studio has warned players that they’re still likely to hit the new server cap.

The details:

  • Arrowhead CEO Johan Pilestedt announced on X that the concurrent user (CCU) cap has been increased for Helldivers 2. “I have one final update for tonight,” he wrote. “We have updated the max CCU cap to 700,000. Unfortunately, we expect the CCU to reach that level. We believe that the wait times will be much more bearable. Tomorrow we are doing some final improvements for the weekend.”

  • The developer has taken additional steps to combat players who refuse to log out of the game to maintain their position, with a recent update kicking out idle players after 15 minutes of inactivity.

  • Helldivers 2 was an unexpected success for Sony, with the game becoming the biggest PC launch for a PlayStation game to date, with more players than all previous releases combined. With over 450,000 concurrent PC players at its peak, combined with the PS5 playerbase, the previous CCU cap left most players waiting in a queue.
