Doug Cockle, the English voice of The Witcher protagonist Geralt, has stated that the character will appear in some capacity in the fourth mainline entry but will not be the game's main star.

The details:

  • In an interview with Fall Damage, Cockle confirmed that he would be reprising his role as Geralt in The Witcher 4, but that it would "not be about him this time.โ€

  • It is currently unknown who will serve as the title's protagonist, with Cockle himself stating that he is "excited to find out" as he has yet to see a script for the game. โ€œI could be lying through my teeth. But I'm not. Or am I?" The actor joked after explaining he could not reveal much about the project.

  • CD Projekt Red confirmed in 2013 that The Witcher 3 would conclude Geralt's story as the franchise's main character, though he could appear in future entries. Ciri could be the game's protagonist, but the title's single promotional image shows a more cat-like medallion, implying that it may be a new Witcher fans have never seen before.

  • So far, we know that the majority of CDPR is focused on Project Polaris. During its 2023 financial report, the studio confirmed that over 400 employees are currently involved in its development following the release of Cyberpunk 2077's Phantom Liberty expansion, with production set to begin later this year.
