Sega has seemingly leaked its next Like a Dragon title ahead of Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio’s livestreamed announcement event later this month, confirming that a remake of the third game in the series is on the way.

The details:

  • According to X users wiredluma, Z64Gaming, and tdkumon, mention of Yakuza Kiwami 3 could briefly be seen on the franchise’s official website as well as through a Google search before being removed entirely.
  • Series developer RGG Studio is set to host its own online event ahead of the Tokyo Game Show on September 24. Given the close timing between the accidental leak from Sega and the summit, it’s likely that Kiwami 3 will be one of its major announcements alongside its other publicly known projects such as Stranger Than Heaven and Virtua Fighter.
  • Kiwami is a series of remakes of the original Like a Dragon games (then known in the west as Yakuza), with the first two entries being released in 2016 and 2017, respectively. The titles not only feature upgraded graphics and modernized controls but also add new story elements, making them the definitive editions of each game. As Yakuza 3 is currently available on PS4 and Xbox One as part of the Yakuza Remastered Collection, it’s currently unknown if Kiwami 3’s release will affect its availability.
