Deus Ex developer Eidos Montreal is currently working on a co-op title, and some speculate that it could potentially be tied to the dystopian role-playing franchise.

The details:

  • A job posting at the Montreal-based studio for a "Senior Game Designer (Player Progression and Game Economy)" for an unspecified project reveals that the title will be built using Unreal Engine 5 and will include some co-op multiplayer. According to the listing, Eidos prefers candidates with "knowledge of Unreal Engine 5, including experience with Blueprint and data tables," as well as "experience working on COOP games" to apply.
  • Although the listing does not explicitly state that the project is related to Deus Ex, fans pointed out that in 2022, Eidos was said to be in the "very very early" stages of developing a new game in the series. The successful candidate would also "develop and fine-tune mechanics of leveling, skill acquisition, crafting, and upgrading," with the franchise's previous entry, Mankind Divided, including a crafting system for consumables as well as the standard progression systems found in most games nowadays.
  • It's also possible that the listing is for another Eidos project, as Deus Ex has traditionally been a single-player title, even if multiplayer was added as an extra mode in past entries. The studio was said to be working on an unannounced IP and had five projects in the works last year. The developer has a history of assisting other studios, including Crystal Dynamics, so it could be involved in outside projects like the upcoming Tomb Raider game.
