After dropping the FIFA branding, it appears that EA has no intention of changing much else for the upcoming soccer title, with it sharing the same September release window as previous titles. Manchester City striker Erling Haaland will also reportedly feature on the cover of the game.
The details:
- EA Sports FC will be released on September 29, according to notable data miner billbil-kun, who has previously leaked information for other upcoming titles such as Mortal Kombat 1. Those who own the Ultimate edition will be able to play the game seven days earlier on September 22. This is around the same time as previous releases under the FIFA name, with FIFA 22 and 23 coming out on September 27.
- In addition, billbil-kun claims that Manchester City's Erling Haaland will be the game's cover star, following PSG's Kylian Mbappé's appearance on the covers of the previous three FIFA titles. The striker will be featured alongside 30 other current and former male and female players in the Ultimate Edition. Due to copyright concerns, the leaker did not include images for either cover in their initial report.
- Aggiornamenti Lumia, another reputable data miner, has also revealed that EA is planning to launch a closed beta period ahead of its launch, with an announcement expected later this month. The file sizes for the Xbox One and Series X/S versions have also been discovered to be 39.23GB and 41.57GB, respectively, and the beta is expected to be limited to those who have pre-ordered.
- After nearly 30 years, EA announced in May 2022 that it was dropping the FIFA brand name from the title of its long-running soccer franchise after failing to reach an agreement with FIFA itself. According to reports, FIFA requested more than $1 billion for each four-year World Cup cycle, more than doubling its previous agreement with the publisher. Following the decision, FIFA president Gianni Infantino stated, "The constant is the FIFA name, and it will remain forever and remain THE BEST," before the branding was used to promote several blockchain mobile titles and a Roblox experience.
More gaming leaks and rumors:
- A Red Dead Redemption remaster or remake may be in the works, according to a reliable source, who claims that Rockstar Games will announce it in August. It was previously speculated that the game would be remade within the engine of its sequel and released on current-generation consoles and PCs, making it the first time the game would be available natively outside of the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
- Screenshots from Rise of the Ronin, Team Ninja's PlayStation 5 exclusive RPG, have leaked online, revealing the game's map, a quest description, and one of its skill trees. Along with the images, the leaker revealed some details, such as the fact that side quests will follow a pattern similar to Ubisoft's quest designs and that the game will be a "mix of Assassin's Creed, Ghost of Tsushima, and Dark Souls."
