Bungie has confirmed the date of the upcoming Destiny 2 Showcase as August 23.
The showcase: Destiny 2 fans are close to learning what's next for the franchise.
- As to be expected, this event will be where Bungie reveals the next step for the game. Last year's showcase provided the first look at the Witch Queen expansion.
- Teaser footage used alongside the announcement shows some familiar faces from the Witch Queen expansion, all of which have connections to the Darkness.
- It's expected that this year's iteration of the event will provide an exclusive peek into the next instalment of the title's Light and Darkness Saga: Lightfall.
The future: Bungie's now owned by a major player in games and is also working on its next game.
- Bungie has been hiring for positions to work on an unannounced project that it describes as its next "enduring game IP" as of late.
- At the time of publication, there are 17 active opportunities on Hitmarker for its new project. Roles include Gameplay Engineers, Testers, and Artists.
- Earlier this week, Sony finally completed its acquisition of the Destiny 2 developer for $3.6B. While it's now under the Sony banner, Bungie will "continue to independently publish and creatively develop" its own titles and its games will not become exclusive to PlayStation.
