Battlefield's largest development team ever is working on a "tremendous live service," says EA CEO
EA CEO Andrew Wilson has revealed more information about the next Battlefield title, stating that the team is the largest in the franchise's history and that it will be a live service release.
The details:
During the company's earnings call yesterday (via VGC), Wilson stated that the team working on both the single player and multiplayer for the next Battlefield is the largest the series has ever had. The CEO added that after visiting the teams a few weeks ago, he "couldn't be more excited about what they showed and what we were able to play."
Unsurprisingly, Wilson also confirmed that the game will be a live service release, which he described as "tremendous," with single player and multiplayer modes "connected" in some way. Given Apex Legends' commercial success, it's likely that most future EA titles will use a similar live service model for most of its multiplayer releases going forward.
The Battlefield team now consists of multiple studios, with Dead Space remake developer Motive collaborating with DICE, Criterion, and Ripple Effect as of last month. Season 7 of Battlefield 2042, which debuted in March, was also confirmed to be the final season of content.
