Arkane's Blade title will be built with its in-house Void Engine
It has been revealed that Marvel's Blade will be built with Arkane's Void Engine, which was previously used for Dishonored 2 and Deathloop.
The details:
The ArtStation profile of Arkane senior lighting artist Thomas Mothe, as shared by @FaizShaikh7681 on X, appears to have confirmed that Blade will use the studio's own engine rather than other standard industry options such as Unreal Engine 5. This information has since been removed from Mothe's profile.
Void was first used in Dishonored: Death of the Outsider and was later used in Dishonored 2 and Arkane Lyon's most recent release, Deathloop. The engine is based on id Software's id Tech 5 and will most likely include a number of new improvements for the development of Blade. It's unclear why the studio opted for Void, but it's likely a combination of familiarity and the fact that the game has reportedly been in the works for some time.
Not much is currently known about Blade following its reveal at The Game Awards, but it is said to be a third-person action-adventure title with a different art style than what would be expected from Arkane. Thereβs no current release date, but it is believed that it may be targeting a late 2025 launch.
